Houston Ship Channel re-opens following sulphur dioxide leak
The Houston Ship Channel has re-opened after a brief closure on Monday afternoon due to a sulphur dioxide leak from Pasadena Refinery.

The US Coast Guard re-opened the Houston Ship Channel at 6-35pm on Monday 2.5 hours after it closed a section of the channel extending half mile either side of the Washburn Tunnel at 4-04pm.

The closure came after the Harris County Office of Emergency Management personnel that a shelter in place order at 3-30pm for the city of Galena Park due to a sulphur dioxide leak at the Pasadena Refinery.

The order was lifted at 6pm and the cause of the leak is under investigation.
