Busan Port welcomes back MSC

Busan Port welcomes back MSC

Seoul: Busan Port (pictured) is to once again feature as a transshipment centre for the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), which had - in 2005 - made the decision to use to Ningbo Port in China as its hub for the region. The move, expected to boost the port's annual transshipment cargo by 400,000 teu, has been attributed to "high productivity, timely transportation, and scheduled-based cargo handling" at the Korean Port.

Busan Port anticipates its container throughput for 2007 will reach 12,640,000 teu. It has already handled 3,110,000 teu in the first quarter, which is a 5.1% increase on the 2,951,069 teu handled in the same period in 2006.  [12/04/07]
