BV signs classification contract with China yards building CMA CGM’s 22,000 teu newbuilds
The two China yards that will be building CMA CGM’s landmark 22,000 teu LNG-fuelled containerships signed the classification contract together with the French line and classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) at a joint ceremony at Marintec China.

The classification contract for the nine vessels, the world’s largest LNG-fuelled containerships, was signed by the two shipyards that will be building the ships – China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) shipyards Jiangnan Changxing Shipbuilding (Hudong Zhonghua) and Shanghai Jiangnan Changxing Heavy Industry (SWS).

Present to witness the contract signing were Hudong-Zhonghua president Chen Jun and SWS chairman.Wang Qi together with Bureau Veritas, senior vp Marine & Offshore, North Asia and China Claude Maillot.
In opening the ceremony, CMA CGM unit CMA Ships’ evp Ludovic Gerard emphasised the strength of the relationship between CMA CGM and Bureau Veritas.
"Bureau Veritas is delighted and honoured to be classing these ships and we are looking forward to working with Hudong-Zhonghua and SWS through this project and we thank both them and CMA CGM for trusting Bureau Veritas with this important project," said Maillot.
