The manufacturer of containers posted a net profit of RMB586.65m ($95.88m) in the third quarter, up 38.1% compared to a gain of RMB424.87m in the same period of 2013.
Revenue also rose 39.1% year-on-year to RMB17.53bn.
“Driven by the recovery of the European and US economies and the launching of new vessels, the global shipping industry’s demand for containers picked up to a certain extent,” CIMC said.
From January to September 2014, CIMC’s container business realised RMB18.99bn in sales revenue, representing an increase of 13.7% compared to the previous corresponding period.
The group also racked in total sales of dry containers of 1,060,200 teu during the nine-month period, an increase of 22.7% from a year ago.
