DSME lays keel for Petronas’ first FLNG facility
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has begun laying the keel for a new Petronas floating LNG liquefaction facility at its shipyard in Okpo, South Korea.

Slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2015, the floating facility, dubbed PFLNG 1, will be 365m long and weigh 125,000t, and is to be installed in the Kanowit gas field, 180km off Sarawak. The facility is expected to produce 1.2m t of LNG every year.

The contract also involves project management and a lump sum for engineering provided by Technip.

Petronas vp Datuk Abdullah Karim, present alongside representatives from Technip and DSME, called the keel laying “another significant achievement of the project in its construction phase.”
