Global Offshore Services splashes $45m on PSV
Mumbai: India's Global Offshore Services has spent NOK270m ($44.75m) to build a platform supply vessel (PSV) with Norway-based Havyard Group.

The contract includes an option to build an additional similar vessel.

The PSV newbuilding is slated to be delivered in July 2013 while the additional vessel can be delivered in March 2014 if the option is exercised.

“Even though a Havyard vessel may cost more than vessels in some other countries, the quality and reliability of the vessels are extremely satisfactory,” said Aditya Garware, vice chairman and managing director of Global Offshore Services.

“We are delighted with Havyard and with the performance of their vessels and also with the fact that deliveries of the ships, which is vital, happen on time. In addition, operating costs in terms of repair and maintenance are also low. As a result the off hire periods are the shortest possible and Havyard`s vessels also tend to keep their value many years after delivery,” Garware said.

Global Offshore Services has 12 vessels comprising of five PSVs, six anchor handlers and one large barge. The shipping company operates these vessels in the North Sea, Brazil, India and in West Africa.
