Mumbai: Sharaf Group's Indian rail subsidiary Hind Terminals Pvt Limited (HTPL) has announced that it is to increase its service offerings connecting the Indian hinterlands as of 15th September, 2009. HTPL intends to deploy six rakes in the National Capital Region (NCR) and operate from three private ICDs located in Loni, ACTL and Patli.
'The choice of these terminals has been governed by geographic proximity to originating / terminating locations,' said Vivek Kapoor Hind Terminals vp for sales and marketing. 'Due increased inefficiencies and continued congestion at Dhandari Kalan in Ludhiana, Hind terminals would also commence operations from the new terminal at Sahnewal. Four rakes would be deployed in this location, making Hind terminals the largest private train operator in the area.'
'The need for reliable and sustainable frequencies to the gateway ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra from these terminals has been addressed through formation of alliances with other private train operators. The resultant service product would the best available in the market,' he added.
Hind Terminals was amongst the first private rail operator to run its own rakes on a category one license, which covers international as well as domestic traffic lanes. The company currently owns 10 rakes, with four additional rakes scheduled to join the fleet by the end of the financial year. [11/09/09]
