Hong Kong October container volumes down 13% to 1.6m teu

The rate of decline also increased from September’s 6.7% slide as the non-Kwai Tsing terminals saw a 14% drop in volume to 370,000 teu from 430,000 teu in October 2014.

The main Kwai Tsing terminals meanwhile saw throughput fall 12.4% to 1.22m teu from 1.39m teu in the previous corresponding period.

For the year-to-date, Hong Kong looks set to post a double-digit drop in throughput for the year with volumes already falling 8.7% to 17.05m teu so far and just two months left to go.
