Jaya lands $60m in charter contracts
Singapore-based Jaya Holdings landed long term charter contracts worth more than $60m including options for three platform supply vessels (PSVs), well ahead of their delivery dates from the shipyard.

A first PSV Jaya Valour, to be delivered at the end of July, has been fixed into a time charter contract for up to three years in Southeast Asia with an existing customer to undertake fracturing work.

Two other 3,500 dwt PSVs, Jaya Victory and Jaya Valiant, will be delivered in the first half of 2014 to a new client and are expected to operate in Latin America. The charters are for up to three years.

“The PSV market is strengthening both in Asia and the rest of the world,” said Venkatraman Sheshashayee, ceo of Jaya. “Both the surge in deepwater drilling and the need to stimulate production from older shallow water fields are increasing demand for high specification PSVs.”

Jaya has a fourth PSV under construction and the vessel will be delivered at the end of August.

The shipbuilder also has two large anchor handlers delivering from its Singapore yard in the next 12 months, and three specialised subsea and accommodation workboats delivering from its Batam yard in Indonesia.
