Dubai: A record breaking 8,571 moves in a single vessel operation has been successfully completed by DP World at its Mega-Terminal in Jebel Ali, smashing the previous record set in January 2005 of 6,804 moves. The record was done in 41 hours, moving boxes around the 8,400teu MSC Rania. Tandem lift cranes specifically designed for DP World worked the ship.
The port, and others run by DP World in the UAE, has now also adopted a Friday and Saturday weekend, to harmonise with international practice. [05/07/06]
