Kobe: Ever Strong, the seventh in a series of 10 7,024teu vessels building for Evergreen, was launched by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries this week in the presence of the shipping Group's vice chairman SS Lin and Taiwanese businessman Paul Liao and his wife Lin Mei-Yin, the vessel's godmother. Due for delivery next March, the vessel will be used on the Transpacific Southwest (TPS) service linking Southern China, Hong Kong and Taiwan with the West Coast of North America. The award-winning S-type series features advanced environmental features - including the provision for alternative maritime power or 'cold ironing' consisting of land-based electrical power hook-ups when in port - allowing it to trade to US ports requiring strictest environmental compliance.
