NEPA Projects and Investments in Indonesia coal shipping venture
NEPA Projects and Investments is launching an Indonesian coal shipping joint venture for 27 mines in Kalimantan.

NEPA, through its Global Maritime Services (GMS) division, will provide shipping services to a conglomerate of 27 mines. GMS will source bulkers – mainly supramaxes, ultramaxes and panamaxes to transport exports of some 12m tonnes of coal from the mines in Kalimantan to India, Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. The company added there would be some requirement for post-panamax vessels.

“The mines were small concessions to start with and now they have grown and have considerable future reserves of more than two billion tons just in East Kalimantan, we saw an opportunity to work with the conglomerate to help them consolidate their shipping needs,” said Pappu Sastry, director of NEPA Projects and Investments.
