NYK - Maersk Line -Hamburg Süd collaboration

Tokyo: Nippon Yusen Kaisha has signed an agreement with German ocean carrier Hamburg Süd and Denmark based Maersk Line for joint operations for trade between Asia, South Africa, and South America.

The collaboration hopes to improve the efficiency and quality of the service as it will combine "an extensive scope of direct calls with fast transit times" between the main markets in the regions.

As of mid April, the lines will replace the current three operated strings (one by Maersk Line and two by Hamburg Süd and NYK) with a new two string service featuring modern and fast vessels. The overall capacity of the new system is approximately the same as that currently provided by the three Lines.

The rotation of the two string service will be as follows:-
