NYK takes 12.5% stake in Kaohsiung terminal
Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has taken a 12.5% stake in Yang Ming’s terminal in Kaohsiung.

NYK and its unit Nippon Container Terminals are taking a 12.5% stake in Yang Ming’s Kao Ming Container Terminal Corp (KMCT). No financial details of the transaction were released.

KMCT started operations in Taiwan’s largest port in 2011 and has 960m berth capable of handling two 14,000 teu vessels at the same time. A second phase is due for completion September next years will enable the terminal handled four 14,000 teu vessels at one time.

NYK noted the terminal’s green credentials including the use of windmills and solar power.
