Last year ODC completed 75 drydockings, bringing the total carried out since the shipyard opened in 2011 to 190.
“In 2013 we saw ODC continue to establish itself as one of the main ship repair and conversion locations in the Middle East, said Johnny Woo, marketing director of ODC. Our focus moving forward will be to win more business from existing and new customers operating carriers, tankers and containerships.”
The yard also sees strong potential in the LNG carrier sector going forward. “We see real potential for growth particularly in becoming a centre of excellence for the repair of LNG carriers,” Woo said.
ODC has a partnership with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and it is upgrading its cyrogenic workshop so it can cater to four LNG carriers at one time. The yard also has a new license to support the containment systems of French engineering firm Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT).
