Perdana Petroleum eyes big contract wins for turn around
Malaysian offshore supply vessel (OSV) operator Perdana Petroleum Bhd expects this year to be a pivotal turning point, executive director Henry Kho was quoted as saying in local media.

Perdana is participating in an upcoming round of OSV tenders for 18 vessels believed to be worth between MYR1.4bn and MYR1.5bn, the results of which are likely to be released by year-end or early 2014..

“We are participating but we don’t have a lot of spare capacity left,” Kho said. The company has a fleet of 15 vessels with one more set to be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year and two more next year. However some three quarters of the fleet are currently on long-term charters.

Perdana has expanded “aggressively” over the past 12 months by acquiring five vessels, which it plans to use for hook-up and commissioning and enhanced oil recovery jobs.

Four production-sharing contractors – Petronas Carigali, Shell, Lundin and Murphy – are believed to have issued separate invitations-to-bid for 18 OSVs, comprising 14 anchor handling tug supply vessels and four platform supply vessels.

The main Malaysian OSV players Alam Maritim, Perdana Petroleum and Bumi Armada are are expected to gain from these tenders.
