Bejing: Rickmers Group celebrated the naming of its newest container vessel Marte Rickmers (pictured), at Dalian shipyard in China . The 4250teu vessel is the third vessel out of a series of 21 ordered from Dalian by the Hamburg-based group. The Marte Rickmers boasts a length of 244.5m and a Panamax beam of 32.25m and is the first newly-built vessel to be sold directly to Rickmers Maritime in Singapore upon delivery.
The vessel, which will be managed by Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore), has already been chartered out on an eight-year contract to French operator CMA CGM. The ship will operate under the name CMA CGM Azure and will be employed initially in the French company's liner service between the Far East and the Mediterranean.
The new addition brings the total number of vessels in the Rickmers fleet to 82. [04/07/07]
