US navy ship, Japanese tanker collide in Strait of Hormuz
Fujairah: A Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) owned oil tanker Otowasan collided with US Navy guided missile destroyer USS Porter near the Strait of Hormuz yesterday but no one was hurt and shipping traffic in the major waterway was not affected, according to wire reports.

Both vessels are able to continue making way after the incident, which was not combat related. Investigations are underway. Wire photographs showed a large dent, a few metres high, on the starboard side of the USS Porter just in front of the ship's superstructure and above the waterline.

The MOL-owned tanker was bound for Fujairah from Mesaieed in Qatar, according to ship tracking data.
