Yangzijiang confirms 18 newbuilding orders worth $815m
China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has confirmed 18 new shipbuilding orders worth a total of $815m in March.

The 18 new effective orders comprise of two 82,000 dwt dry bulk carrier, one 208,000 dwt bulker and four 10,000 teu containerships converted from existing options, and eleven new orders for 82,000 dwt bulk carriers.

The total of 18 new effective contracts are scheduled for deliveries in 2015 to 2017, the group announced to the stock exchange.

Year-to-date, Singapore-listed Yangzijiang has secured a total of 26 effective shipbuilding contracts with an aggregate value of $1.07bn.

“Going forward, the group will explore opportunities to expand on our capabilities to construct larger vessels. In the medium term, the group aims to capture a higher market share and have more say in the containership market,” commented Ren Yuanlin, executive chairman of Yangzijiang.
