Four of the five tankers, which have a combined capacity 37,500 dwt, of were previously on bareboat charter to Monjasa and the acquisitions see it securing this tonnage for the long term.
The five tankers will continue to be deployed by the company in the Arabian Gulf, West Africa and the Panama Canal and it has already taken delivery of two vessels in Dubai. The tankers range between 3,798 dwt and 12,222 dwt, and built between 2004 and 2010.
“We are on the brink of bringing new low-sulphur fuel products to the market and the entire industry needs to adapt to a new multiple products demand. These five tankers can segregate between two and six different types of oil products onboard and this contributes to making them an attractive investment for us,” says Monjasa group ceo, Anders Østergaard.
