The Damen Fast Crew Supplier 2610 catamaran has been modified to transfer up to 50 passengers. With a top speed of 25 knots, the vessel has been hailed as a “truly viable alternative to helicopter transfers.”
Allianz and MCS welcomed guests on board the new vessel – called MCS Allianz Venus – during this week’s Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC). The catamaran’s 90m2 of deck space can accommodate two 20 foot containers.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Allianz specialises in the provision of marine transportation services to the offshore oil and gas drilling and production industry. MCS operates an international fleet of tugs and workboats active in sectors that include dredging support and marine construction in addition to crew transfer operations for both the offshore wind and oil and gas industries.
“The purchase of this new FCS 2610 signifies an extension of their collaborative association,” Damen said in a statement.
The MCS Allianz Venus is the second FCS 2610 active in the Middle East oil sector.
Damen Shipyards Group operates 32 shipbuilding and repair yards, employing 9,000 people worldwide. It has delivered more than 6,000 vessels in more than 100 countries.
