The fleet comprises 33 terminal tractors, three empty container handlers, three reachstackers and one forklift from Kalmar, part of Cargotec and was booked in it's 2018 Q4 order intake, with delivery scheduled to begin during Q2 of 2019.
The Posorja terminal is the first deepwater port in Ecuador and it is currently in its first phase of development. Once this phase is complete the terminal will feature a 480-metre-berth and have an annual capacity of 750,000 teu.

DP World has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Kalmar over the years, so it was natural that we turned to them to help us put our plans into action at the Posorja terminal," said Jorge Velasquez, gm of DP World Posorja.
The new Kalmar mobile equipment will also be connected to the Kalmar Insight performance management and optimisation tool, which will provide personnel at DP World Posorja with a real-time view of the terminal's productivity and performance. The tool aggregates operational business data from the equipment fleet, Terminal Operating System (TOS) and maintenance management systems.
"I am confident that with this new fleet which has the latest technology, together with Kalmar Insight, DP World Posorja in Ecuador will be able to maximise the efficiency of their terminal and achieve a high level of productivity," added Marcelo Massa, Solutions sales manager at Kalmar.
The multi-purpose Posorja terminal- $500m-initial investment -Phase 1- included the purchase of land, dredging of a new access channel, a 20km-access road and a 480-metre-berth equipped to handle containers and other cargo. Total investment will be over $1bn for the entire project along with plans to develop a logistics zone and creating a regional trading hub.
The future port, located 65 kms from the country’s main business city of Guayaquil, is expected to be operational by end 2019. Additionally, a 1 sq-km-logistics and industrial park, as a Special Economic Development Zone, will be developed adjacent to the port.
China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) is in charge to build the future port and the access roads.
