Shanghai port hits record high container volume in July

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) posted a container throughput of 3.9m teu in July, hitting a record high.

The port handled a container volume of 149,565 teu on 30 July, representing a record single-day high. Several units of the port reported historic cargo handling volume in July.

Amid the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, China’s economic recovery was speeding up starting from the second quarter, and the cargo volume saw a general growth. Shanghai port has been receiving more containers since the second quarter.

Shanghai port recorded 43.3m teu container throughput in 2019, ranking it as the first in the world for the 10th consecutive year.
