China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has been contracted to construct a multi-purpose port in Cambodia.

CHEC has signed the contract with Kampot Logistics and Port Company to build a seaport in southwestern Cambodia's Kampot province, which will be able to accommodate vessels up to 100,000 tons and is capable of handling 300,000 teu from 2025.

The 15-year Kampot Logistics and Port project started construction in May 2022 and has been divided into three phases. The first phase project started from 2022 to 2025.

Project contractors also include the Chinese companies Shanghai Construction Group and the China Road and Bridge Corporation.

“Upon completion of the port project, it will become the second large-size deep-water international port in Cambodia and a key portal in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) regions,” said CHEC.
