Grimaldi Group announced that it has acquired a new terminal at Amsterdam under a new concession deal.

The 20-year concession brings the total area owned by Grimaldi at Amsterdam port to over 200,000 sq m, and adds new assets to its Amsterdam operation.

The concession was signed by Grimaldi subsidiary Amsterdam Multipurpose Terminal (AMT) and adds assets in the Amerikahaven area including two quays – one over 500 m long and another of around 300 m. Storage areas, warehouses and logistics areas are also included in the deal.

Grimaldi said the longer quay will be dedicated to deep sea operations, with the shorter used for the berthing of vessels on short sea routes.

"Our investment in the port terminal indicates the willingness of our Group to strengthen its position in the port of Amsterdam", said AMT President Guido Grimaldi. "We will aim to facilitate the development of the port, improving the services offered to the Dutch market and businesses while exploiting and enhancing its great potential as a multimodal logistic hub, thanks to the numerous road, rail, sea and river connections to and from the rest of Northern Europe".

AMT is 80%-owned by Grimaldi and 20%-owned by Dutch logistics operator TMA Holdings.

“Not only is Amsterdam an extremely important port for cocoa exports from West Africa to Europe: the Grimaldi Group aims to make the most of its strategic location, transforming it into the gateway for imports of new vehicles, as well as for their distribution in Northern Europe,” said Grimaldi.
