Yangzijiang splashes out $513m for shipbuilding, equipment expansion in Jiangsu

Chinese private shipbuilder, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, is to invest CNY3.3bn($513m) in Jiangyin-Jingjiang industrial park in Jiangsu province, China, to further develop shipbuilding and equipment manufacture industry.

The integrated projects in the industrial park will cover various sectors including port and logistics, high-end clean energy equipment manufacture and technology development and research. 

In 2003, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding built its large size modern shipyard at Jiangjin-Jingjiang industrial park, which expanded rapidly and had been developed to be one of the most efficient shipbuilding yards in China.

In the first quarter this year, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding had secured new orders for 75 vessels with a total contract value of $4bn, making the company’s orderbook stood at $6.6m for 146 vessels, highest level since 2009.
