China Merchants Energy Shipping is ordering eight vessels from China Merchants Industry at a total cost of $508 million to expand its bulk, car carrier, and multi-purpose fleets.

The deal consists of two 82,000dwt bulk carriers, two 62,000dwt multi-purpose vessels and four 9,000 ceu methanol dual-fuelled PCTCs.

Four PCTCs are due for delivery in the third quarter of 2026 while the other four vessels are expected to be delivered from the second half of 2025 till the end of 2026 from China Merchants Industry and its affiliated shipyards.

Benefiting from China’s new-energy automobile and vehicle exports and the changes from international automobile supply chain, Chinese owners have rosy prospects in roro-shipping market. The new PCTCs will further enhance the company’s roro service capability in global market and improve profitability, commented China Merchants Energy Shipping.

Established in 2004, China Merchants Energy Shipping focuses on the operation of oil & gas carriers, bulk carriers, containerships and car carriers.
