TS Lines orders four boxships at SWS

Taiwan-based TS Lines has ordered four containerships from CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS).

The two parties have entered into shipbuilding contract online for the construction of four 7,000 teu containerships at a cost of over $300m.

The vessels, developed by Shanghai Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), will be in 272.5 metres length and 42.8 metres width, are the new generation of efficient and green mid-size containerships.

The four new vessels are scheduled for delivery during April and November 2024.

Currently, Asia-focused TS Lines operates a fleet of 46 containerships, having roughly 100,000teu fleet capacity.

The new order will make Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding’s 7,000 teu containership’s ordesr on hand to more than 10 vessels, further strengthening the company’s position at mid-size containership market.
