PSA Corp and CMA CGM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to develop and implement sustainable solutions at the CMA CGM-PSA Lion City Terminal. One of these is Opt-E-Arrival which aims to optimise voyages so that vessels arriving into PSA’s terminals in Singapore do not have to wait at anchorages.
The solution will synchronise real time activities and data between ship and shore to optimise vessel speed to allow for timely berthing on arrival.
By optimising speed to arrive on time bunker consumption will be reduced and as result Greenhouse Gas emissions from CMA CGM’s vessels. The two parties estimate fuel annual bunker savings of 4 – 7% for line’s vessels calling in Singapore.
Opt-E-Arrival will be deployed at CMA CGM’s fleet centres in Marseille, Miami and Singapore, which connect digitally to its fleet of 566 vessels.

While much of the focus in the race for zero carbon shipping is focused on new fuels terminal operator PSA is focusing on reducing emissions in the supply chain through a variety of smaller initiatives. A day earlier PSA said it had completed trials with Ocean Network Express (ONE) to recycle refrigerant gas from reefer containers.
