China’s Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding and Offshore has entered into shipbuilding contracts for ten 3,850dwt tankers with GEFO Shipping.

The ships for GEFO have been optimised to consume less fuel and produce lower emissions, which is ready for innovative fuels also, the Hamburg-based shipowner said.

The newbuilds will serve to expand GEFO’s fleet and replace some of the older vessels in the company’s fleet that will reach the maximum age of 20 years,

The newbuildings are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2028.

It’s been a good week for Nantong Xiangyu and as Seatrade Maritime News reported a Stolt Tanker and NYK  joint venture ordered six 38,000 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers to be delivered between late 2026 and 2029.
