The news comes after one of two tugs involved in an initial refloating attempt suffered an engine failure on Sunday afternoon.
The 36,563dwt vessel grounded in the down-bound shipping channel early on Sunday morning local time, en route to Montreal, Canada, carrying 22,672 tons of wheat. No injuries have been reported.
While inspectors from the Detroit Sector of the US Coast Guard, as well as divers, are in the process of assessing any structural damage to the ship, there has been no pollution as a result of the incident.
