Following an initial agreement in April DSC acquired Keppel Verolme today, 30 June, and the yard and its 250 staff will continue operations under the Damen name from 1 July.
Keppel Verolme has three drydocks, the largest of which is 405 m by 90 m and DSC said it would “significantly expand its portfolio”. DSC operates eight repair and conversion yards in the Netherlands and eight overseas.
“We look forward to joining forces with the Verolme yard and its people. The facilities and personnel are complementary to our existing organisation. This acquisition will enable us to serve our existing clients even better while opening up new opportunities,” said Durk-Jan Nederlof, md of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion.
