Indonesia coffee shipments hampered by lack of feeder space

Indonesia coffee shipments hampered by lack of feeder space
Panjang: Coffee shipments are being delayed due to a lack of feeder vessels as some carriers have stopped or delayed calls at the main coffee exporting port of Panjang in south Sumatra, according to a leading commodities trader.

As a result, some shipments are also being held back by overbooking of the limited supply of space.

The volume of coffee bean arrivals amounted to 16,000 to 17,000 metric tons, Volcafe said in a report. This is a rise from 15,000 to 16,000 tons last week and 12,750 to 14,000 tons the week before. Indonesia began harvesting its current coffee crop in April. The country is the world's third biggest grower of robusta coffee beans.
