OOCL, RCL to launch new China-Bangkok Service
Hong Kong: Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) and Regional Container Lines (RCL) will jointly launch a new China-Bangkok Service (CBS) from 4 March 2012.

The new service will run with three 1,200-1,300 teu containerships, covering “strategic ports in China, Thailand, and Vietnam”, according to a statement by OOCL on Wednesday.

The first sailing for CBS will be the Victoria Trader on port rotation of Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh, Ningbo, Shanghai and Laem Chabang.

The CBS will supplement OOCL's existing China-Ho Chi Minh-Laem Chabang Service (CHL) which covers North China, Hong Kong, South China, Thailand and Vietnam.

“The CBS, together with CHL, will provide a much more comprehensive network to better serve our customers on the trade between China, Thailand and Vietnam. It is also strategically structured in linking the key markets in central China and Thailand to give us a competitive edge in this trade,” said Stephen Ng, director of corporate planning at OOCL.
