China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan port is launching ship-to-ship LNG refueling service for international voyages with a delivery to a CMA CGM containership.

The new service represents a breakthrough for LNG bunkering in the bonded zone of Ningbo-Zhoushan port.

The world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier and refueling vessel, Haiyang Shiyou 301, completed its first ship-to-ship LNG refueling at Meishan port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan port for the vessel CMA CGM Unity.

Haiyang Shiyou 301, a 30,000 cu m LNG carrier owned by CNOOC, measuring in 184.7 metres long and 28.1 meters wide, is able to provide LNG bunkering service to two LNG-powered vessels at a time.

As the world’s large cargo handling and the third container handling port, Ningbo-Zhoushan has enormous potential demand for international voyages refueling, commented Ningbo-Zhoushan port.

Running of this new service makes Ningbo-Zhoushan port become the third major international voyage LNG bunkering spot following Shanghai port and Yantian port.
