DP World owned container shortsea specialist Unifeeder is making its first foray into the Americas region.

The weekly service connects the DP World’s terminal in Caucedo, Dominican Republic with Port au Prince in Haiti and San Juan in Puerto Rico.

In a post on Linkedin Unifeeder said its first Americas service was “focused specifically on improving the logistics between the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico & Haiti”.

DP World acquired Denmark-headquartered Unifeeder in 2018 and the company operates an extensive range of feeder, shortsea and regional shipping services across Europe, Middle East, East Africa and Asia.

As well as the Unifeeder brand the group also operates Unimed, Feedertech, Perma, Transworld Feeders, Avana Logistek, and Avana Global brands. Apart from Unimed the other five brands have become part of Unifeeder since it was acquired by DP World, which also operates an extensive global network of container terminals.

DP World handled 79m teu across its global container terminal portfolio last year.
