The new company will have a fleet of 90 multipurpose vessels at its disposal, ranging from 5,000dwt to 20,000dwt, and each capable of lifting 400t. The new Thorco will have offices in 11 countries around the world and be headquartered in Copenhagen, with a staff of about 130 employees.
“…The consolidation of the industry has for a long time been an ambition for us, and we are confident that the new entity will be able to generate significant value to its partners,” said Kristian Morch, Clipper Group partner and ceo. “This is in our view the best way to ensure a profitable business and future growth in the current multipurpose market.” Kristian will become a member of the Board of Thorco, but will retain the role in Clipper.
“Combining forces, we do believe we will stand strong in the future and be in a position to tailor services to our customers which are unique to the industry,” said Thomas Mikkelsen, head of chartering at the existing Thorco.
