The Malta-flagged 9,400 teu CMA CGM Danube was built at DSIC (Dalian PRC) yard in China, and is designed specifically to serve the Black Sea through the Strait of the Bosphorous, offering as much loading capacity as possible with a 300 m length and a 48 m width.
The design, optimised to operate at between 16 and 18 knots, features a long-stroke engine fitted with an exhaust gas bypass system, as well as hull optimisation features such as a optimised bulbous bow shape and a twisted leading edge rudder and rudder bulb, and a ballast water treatment system.
The vessel has also been equipped with 1,458 reefer plugs for 40 foot containers, a large number of slots for a 9,400 teu vessel, which “embodies the Group’s ambition to be a leader in this growing market”.
The Bosphorus Express service (BEX) will call at Dalian, Tianjin, Kwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Izmit, Istambul Ambarli, Constanza, Odessa, Ilyichevsk, Port Said, Port Kelang and Singapore, before returning to Dalian.
