China Merchants Jinling Shipyard has secured a new order of four plus two 7,400 ceu LNG-fuelled car carriers from Sallaum Lines for the first time.

The order from the Swiss-headquartered includes four firm vessels and two optional vessels.

Measuring 199.9m in length, 37.70m in width, the vessels will incorporate a groundbreaking dual-fuel LNG design developed by Deltamarin. With 13 vehicle decks, the robust design can ensure effective cargo handling and maximizes operational efficiency. Utilising alternative marine shore power, the PCTCs will be able to reduce carbon footprint while docked as well.

The vessels are due for delivery starting from 2026.

Last year, Sallaum Lines ordered two 7,500 ceu LNG-powered car carriers from another Chinese yard, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, lifting its recent newbuild car carriers number to eight.
