Two workers died onboard Norden-owned Nord Magic in Chittagong, Bangladesh late last week.

According to a statement released by the company, the ship’s crew found two technicians unconscious in one of the cargo tanks. After first aid was given and the technicians evacuated, one died en route to the hospital and the other at the hospital.

The technicians were external subcontractors hired by technical managers NSSM, and were carrying out a routine tank inspection, said Norden. The incident happened on June 17.

“An internal investigation has been launched and representatives from technical managers have arrived on board to assist the crew and the investigation. Crew, technical managers and NORDEN are deeply affected by this, and our thoughts are with the two technicians and their families,” the company said in a statement.
