Vroon confirms order for PSV pair at Cosco yard
Netherlands-based Vroon Offshore Services has exercised an option for a pair of platform supply vessels (PSVs) to be designed by Ulstein and built by Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard.

The PX121 designed PSVs are scheduled to be delivered from the Chinese yard in 2015, according to Jan-Piet Baars, managing director of Vroon Offshore Services.

Earlier in 2013, Vroon committed to two of the same PX121 design and equipment deals, with an option for a further two. The shipowner exercised the option on Tuesday.

“The PX121 is becoming increasingly attractive to oil companies as it offers a competitive combination of fuel-efficiency and cargo capacities/deadweight,” explained Sigurd Viseth, managing director of Ulstein Design & Solutions. “We expect to see more newbuilds of the same design type in the years to come.”

The PSVs are intended for operation in European waters.
