ABS has agreed the sale of its subsidiary ABSG Consulting Inc’s (ABS Consulting) technical inspection services to Apave Group.

ABS Consulting is the classification society’s Management Consultancy firm and operates across a range of risk and management consultancy areas. The deal covers the whole inspection service line of ABS Consulting and is expected to close by the first quarter 2023.

Apave said some 700 experts will join its group from ABS across 15 countries, expanding on its service offerings across technical, human, environmental and digital risk management over its business areas of inspection, training, tests and measurements, certification & labelling, and consulting & technical support.

“This transaction better positions ABS Consulting to focus on its strategic objectives to deliver world class technical risk solutions to support the overall ABS strategy,” said Christopher J. Wiernicki, ABS Chairman, President and CEO. “These solutions are delivered through the Risk and Reliability, Cybersecurity, Government and Management Systems Certification service lines. The technical inspection service line, even with its strong global performance, supports a different focus.”

“The sale of our global inspection service line will enable us to concentrate on our core risk and reliability consulting business,” said Ryan Moody, CEO of ABS Consulting.

“We are delighted to conclude this agreement with ABS Consulting for the acquisition of its technical inspection service line, which represents activities complementary to our own historical activities and in line with our development ambitions. This acquisition will allow us to expand our geographical footprint and enrich the Apave Group's expertise, while meeting our clients’ new needs with innovative and sustainable risk management solutions,” said Philippe Maillard, CEO Apavae Group.
