Pacific Gas Carriers orders four VLECs for Ineos charter

Pacific Gas Carrier (Hong Kong), subsidiary of Shandong Marine Energy, has entered into long-term charter agreement with Ineos for four 98,000 cu m very large ethane carriers (VLEC).

The four VLECs will be constructed by CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard, measuring 230 metres long and 36.6 metres wide, adopting Type-B tank technology developed by Jiangnan Shipyard. 

According to the chartering agreement, the vessels will be managed by Pacific Gas Carrier (Hong Kong) upon delivery, providing long-term ethane transport service for Ineos. 

With the addition of these four new VLECs, Pacific Gas Carrier (Hong Kong) will operate a VLEC fleet totaling in 693,000 cu m. The company will keep expanding fleet capacity and improve overall competitiveness, said Shandong Marine Energy.

Earlier in 2019, Pacific Gas Carrier and Ineos took the first step in large ethane carrier cooperation and build two VLECs at Jiangnan Shipyard.
