China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) has inked Letter of Intent for the construction of two plus four methanol dual-fuel 9,000 ceu car carriers with China Merchants Industry.

Total contract value will be no higher than $597m.

“To seize market opportunity and further expand the company’s PCTC fleet and international ro-ro service, actively promote low-carbon green vessel development, the company is strengthening cooperation with world’s top PCTC yard, China Merchants Industry,” said China Merchants Energy Shipping.

The newbuilds are the largest and most advanced PCTCs in global market, which are independently designed and developed by China Merchants Industry, could be deployed on long-distance services to Europe, America, Africa and other regions.

Two firmed vessels are due for delivery in 2025 and the other four options are going to be delivered in 2026.
