The order sees the yard entering into the large tanker construction business, a sector only a small number of top yards are currently active in, despite the generaly bouyant tanker market.
Hengli Group focuses on oil refining and chemical products business, currently operates several production bases across the nation.
The two VLCCs are scheduled for delivery in September 2025 and February 2026.
Since Hengli Heavy Industry commenced operation at the beginning of this year, the shipyard had secured over 30 shipbuilding orders mainly consisting of bulk carriers. The new order is the first VLCC contract at Hengli shipyard.
